With expanding programs and financial stability, the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior at Georgia Regents University (GRU) now seeks a licensed psychologist to lead the expansion of the public psychiatry partnership with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.  This position will conduct structural and functional behavior assessments (FBA) and functional analyses (FA), develop individualized support plans (ISPs) and positive bahavior support (PBS) plans based on hypotheses generated from assessments for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness and/or intellectual disabilities who have challenging behaviors at ECRH.  This position will develop and implement therapeutic psychosocial interventions for challenging behaviors displayed by individuals with MI and ID.  Will train direct care staff and other staff from interdisciplinary teams on BSPs and PBSPs, monitor and revise BSP and PBS plans as needed and consult with recovery and interdisciplinary teams to provide recommendations for prevention-based behavioral strategies.  Positions will manage medical and clinical care at East Central Regional Hospital-Augusta (located only five miles from the medical school campus), a GRU teaching facility with a 90-bed psychiatric facility, 71 forensic beds and a developmental disabilities facility caring for over 200 individuals.  Positions will enhance teaching throughout the department by expanding the GRU presence and enhancing core didactic and residency practical instruction in psychiatry and psychology.

Candidates will also be expected to contribute to activities related to public policy and regulation of psychology in the state of Georgia.  A detailed description of the department structure, programs, research and education is provided on the departmental website.  The successful candidate will be approved to the academic faculty at GRU at a rank commensurate with experience and previous academic achievements.
