General Summary:

The University of North Georgia (UNG) is currently accepting applications for the position of Reference Services Librarian. This vacancy is a result of recent organizational restructuring in the Libraries. This is a 12 month, full-time tenure track position. Job Duties & Responsibilities:

The Reference Services Librarian - Assistant/Associate Professor will:

  • Provide reference, circulation and general assistance for students, faculty, staff and community at the Cumming Campus Library and remote assistance as needed.
  • Design, develop, deliver, and market library instruction classes, workshops, and research consultations.
  • Collaborate with faculty and committees in achieving information literacy learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with faculty and teaching staff in library instruction.
  • Provide library collection development and management for electronic resources in concert with library faculty and the technical services division.
  • Represent the library and/or university at campus, local, state, regional, and/or national meetings and conferences.
  • Work with campus partners across multiple units through service on committees and/or holding office.
  • Participate in scholarship through publications, research, and/or presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have superior knowledge of library resources; successful classroom teaching or other library instruction experience; high level of competence with computers, integrated library systems, and instructional technologies and ability to adapt to changing technologies quickly; excellent written and oral communication skills; strong commitment to teaching and to students.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities; ability to work effectively in a team environment; capable of dealing professionally and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the community.  

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:

  • The successful candidate must have a MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • At least two years library experience, academic library preferred.
  • Experience with electronic resource management and ALMA is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to travel between campuses occasionally.
