This position performs specialized duties in the design, installation and maintenance of systems infrastructure. This position designs, installs, supports, administers and maintains ITS storage infrastructure and responds to hardware, software, network and system failures.

The candidate selected for this position will typically:

  • Design, install, support, administer and maintain ITS storage infrastructure, including Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Network (SAN), Unified, and Cloud-based arrays.
  • Design, install, support, administer and maintain ITS backup infrastructure.
  • Respond to hardware, software, network and system failures; provide troubleshooting, analysis, and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Support PeachNet cloud Services customers; perform pre-sales, initial setups, training, and support for operating systems, applications and network.
  • Identify and provide solutions to storage and backup problems.
  • Assist database administrators, systems administrators, application specialists and developers with the installation, evaluation and testing of new storage and backup products.
  • Engage storage and backup vendors to evaluate products.
  • Perform data migrations from one storage device to another.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Baccalaureate degree required.
  • Five years of related experience required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of data storage systems.
  • Knowledge of backup systems concepts.
  • Knowledge of database development and management concepts.
  • Knowledge of firewall and information security principles.
  • Knowledge of UNIX, Linux and Microsoft Windows server operating systems.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of system administration products and tools.
  • Knowledge of application protocols, advanced networking and multi-tier application architecture.
  • Skill in collaborating with multiple constituents.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to respond diplomatically to sensitive and critical issues.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task.
