Position Title Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) Testing Coordinator
Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for proctoring student testing in the ACE, assisting with tutoring, and for coordinating the work of tutoring staff.

Major Duties

• Organizes and oversees proctoring of exams in the ACE – especially mid-terms and final exams
• Manages on campus academic proctored testing, including but not limited to eCore and other USG testing
• Develops academic learning programs focused on developing student testing preparation
• Assists preparing reports on the operations of the Academic Center for Excellence
• Supports other tutoring staff with tutoring EGSC students in various collegiate academic subjects and prospective students remediating for placement exams, when available
• Co-operatively oversees the scheduling and work of tutoring staff
• Assists advisement staff as needed.
• Directs students to other college services and personnel as appropriate
• Provide coverage for evening/extended hours during the Spring/Fall semesters as needed
• Performs related duties

Knowledge Required by the Position

• Knowledge of EGSC and ACE policies and procedures
• Knowledge of entrance exam/testing requirements
• Knowledge in various academic subject matters including but not limited to Mathematics (Algebraic and Statistical concepts), and English (Writing concepts)
• Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs
• Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions
• Skill in the development and delivery of instruction
• Skill in oral and written communication

Supervisory Controls

The Assistant Director of the Learning Commons assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines

Guidelines include the college catalog and directions from the Assistant Director. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.

Complexity/Scope of Work

• The work consists of related duties in test proctoring and tutoring students in various academic areas
• The necessity of helping multiple students simultaneously contributes to the complexity of the position
• The purpose of this position is to coordinate test proctoring, assist in tutoring students when available, and co-supervise tutoring staff. Success in this position contributes the success of East Georgia State College students

• Contacts are typically with co-workers, faculty, and students
• Contacts are typically to provide services, to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, or to motivate or influence persons

Physical Demands

• The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping
• The employee occasionally lifts light objects
• The work is typically performed in an office and tutoring center
• The work will occur during regular and some evening/extended hours during the Fall and Spring semesters, and will occur during regular hours during the Summer semesters and periods in-between semesters

Supervisory and Management Responsibility

This position has functional supervision over part-time tutoring staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with an associate’s degree or higher
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one year

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a bachelor’s degree
