The School of Business at Middle Georgia State University (MGA) invites applicants for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor to teach and conduct research in the area of Marketing.  The ability to teach and research in multiple areas within Marketing is a strong advantage. 


 About the School of Business at Middle Georgia State University

The Mission of the School of Business is to provide high quality undergraduate and graduate business programs targeted primarily to meet Central Georgia workforce needs. The School focuses on effective teaching and student learning for a diverse student population. Faculty engagement in scholarly activities, especially applied and pedagogical research, enhances classroom instruction. Faculty provides professional services to the community and their disciplines.

 Middle Georgia State University is a 4-year public, Master’s level university.  Middle Georgia State University was formed through the consolidation of Macon State University and Middle Georgia College in 2012.  Serving over 7100 students, the University encompasses all five campuses of the prior two institutions with campuses in Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, Macon, and Warner Robins.  Annual tuition and fees make it the most affordable public university in the state of Georgia.  MGA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.  The School of Business is a member of AACSB and anticipates applying for candidacy during the 2019-2020 academic year.

Job Responsibilities

MGA’s primary mission is teaching.  Courses are delivered in face-to-face, online, hybrid, and video-conferenced formats.  The School offers a Bachelor of Science in Business degree and a Master of Science in Management degree.  The successful candidate will:

  • Provide excellent teaching to undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of delivery formats, including teaching on multiple campuses.
  • Conduct primarily applied and pedagogical research in Marketing leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals to maintain Scholarly Academic status.
  • Engage in service to the School, University, and community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess an earned PhD or DBA in Marketing or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution (ABD will be considered with a firm completion date no later than August 31, 2019).
  • Be Scholarly Academic based on AACSB Standards
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence
  • Commitment to production of scholarship in peer reviewed publications.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess an earned PhD or DBA in Marketing from an AACSB-accredited institution
  • Demonstrated record or strong potential for scholarship in peer reviewed publications
  • Experience with online, hybrid, and/or other alternative delivery formats is preferred.
  • Prior teaching and business experience


Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience.

About Macon, Georgia

Macon, the main campus for Middle Georgia State University’s School of Business, is located in the middle of the state where major interstates 75 and 16 intersect. Considered the “Heart of Georgia,” Macon is just a little more than an hour from Atlanta and two and a half hours from the coast.
