The Department of Respiratory Therapy in the Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions at Georgia State University in Atlanta invites applications for a 9-month tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Program in Respiratory Therapy is a fully accredited program with approximately 50 students per class. The department is comprised of 7 full-time and several part-time faculty and staff.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to begin or further a career in respiratory therapy education in a large, well-established program.  Baccalaureate and Master degree programs are offered in respiratory therapy, as well as an A.S. to B.S. degree bridge program. Join a team of well-respected faculty, with over 120 students and multiple large, well-equipped clinical sites.  Teaching is valued and collaboration is required.  The Department of Respiratory Therapy is located in a large urban university and affiliated with major medical centers throughout the metro Atlanta area and United States.

Teaching, student laboratories and research laboratories in the Department of Respiratory Therapy are housed in the Parker H. Petit Science Center.  Opened in March 2010, this 50,000 square-foot state of the art facility houses programs in biology, chemistry, nursing, nutrition, public health, respiratory therapy and the Georgia State University Neuroscience Institute.  Additional information about the Department of Respiratory Therapy can be found at this URL: http://rt.gsu.edu/

Applicants for this position will develop or advance a focused program of funded research and teaching in the undergraduate and/or graduate program. Other responsibilities include student advisement and mentoring, as well as service. Minimum qualification includes: PhD or equivalent research doctoral degree. While a preference will be given to registered respiratory therapists (RRT), other health-related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Prior teaching and clinical experience is desirable. Preference is given to those with at least 2 years of clinical and/or didactic teaching experience and experience with publications and scientific presentations. Respiratory Therapy candidates must be eligible for licensure in Georgia.
