The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics is home to 28 faculty members with 350 students in programs of study at the B.S., M.A.B, M.S., and Ph.D. levels. Position Summary

Major responsibilities include: (1) developing a nationally recognized, industry-relevant research program, (2) publishing research in top hospitality and food industry journals, (3) teaching a wide range of undergraduate HFIM courses, (4) mentoring undergraduate HFIM students, and (5) securing sufficient grants and contracts to support research. Faculty will also be expected to assist with recruitment, retention, and placement efforts; effectively interact with the staff of the Georgia Center (a 200 room/suite conference center located on campus) in providing a “hands-on” component to the curriculum; develop programmatic relationships with industry related organizations and businesses; and perform scholarly activities and service appropriate for appointment.

Additional Requirements

Must have an earned doctorate in hospitality or a closely related area.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

At least one year of experience in teaching undergraduate courses in restaurant operations, catering operations, meeting and event planning, and/or hospitality finance; two years of managerial experience in hotels, restaurants, or catering/event operations.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Membership and active participation in relevant professional organizations. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
