The Department of Computer Science in the College of Engineering & Computing invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor. This position is located on the Statesboro campus, but may require teaching on the other campuses.

Within this setting, the Department of Computer Science offers an on-campus Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Computer Science and a hybrid format Master of Science degree with a major in Computer Science. The B.S. program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Position Description. Reporting to the department chair, the Assistant Professor position requires undergraduate and graduate teaching, service, and research responsibilities, as well as a Ph.D. in Computer Science. The successful candidates will be required to: (1) develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses; (2) supervise MS-level theses and undergraduate projects; (3) pursue scholarly activities (including externally-funded research and disseminating it through high quality, peer-reviewed publications); (4) engage in academic mentoring; (5) assist in program assessment and execution of the department's continuous improvement plan; (6) participate in appropriate professional service; and (7) participate in professional activities and organizations. The position is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned Ph.D. in Computer Science by August 1, 2019
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching and scholarly activities
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of excellence in teaching, research, and professional service
  • Ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary research
  • Expertise in at least one of the following areas: cybersecurity or data sciences
