Nature of Work

The Department of Social Sciences at the College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA) seeks qualified applicants for a Temporary Full Time Sociology Lecturer for Spring Semester 2018. Teaching responsibilities include Introduction to Sociology, Introduction to Social Problems and at least one of the following: Social Stratification, Social Deviance, or Self & Social Existence.

Essential Duties

The successful candidate will teach Sociology courses utilizing the Desire2Learn (D2L) online course platform. Course delivery models may include web-enhanced on-site courses, completely online courses, and “hybrid” courses with a reduced on-site commitment and an enhanced online component. The successful candidate may also teach courses supporting the B.S. in American Studies degree. Candidates will be expected to have a commitment to excellence in teaching and to serving students in a collegiate setting. In addition, the candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with other colleagues across campus.

Minimum Qualifications and Training

• Master’s Degree in Sociology from a regionally-accredited institution or related field with 18 graduate hours in Sociology courses.

Preferred Qualifications and Training

• Ph.D. in Sociology from a regionally-accredited institution.
• Recent experience teaching undergraduate sociology courses.
