Description:

Middle Georgia State University is seeking candidates for a Reference & Instruction Librarian. This position is the sole librarian at the Warner Robins campus of Middle Georgia State University (MGA) and provides reference service and teaches information literacy classes to students at this campus. This position reports to the Director of Library Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide reference consultations fact-to-face, via chat, and other electronic methods to students and faculty.

• Offer formal and informal instructions on database searching.

• Participate in library instruction program by scheduling and teaching all information literacy classes for students at the Warner Robins Campus.

• Carry out assessment of library instruction sessions.

• Work collaboratively with Student Success Center (SCC) coordinator to offer research workshops and individual assistance.

• Promote library resources and services to faculty and students through outreach initiatives in collaboration with other campus libraries and various departments (e.g. Student Life).

• Participate in student orientation sessions each semester to educate incoming students about library services and resources.

• Carry out basic circulation duties and responsibilities via Alma/Primo including GIL Express and course reserves.

• Maintain usage statistics for library services at Warner Robins Campus.

• Supervision of one student employee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ALA accredited MLS; minimum one (1) year professional librarian experience; knowledge of print and electronic reference sources (preferably GALILEO); the ability to provide service and instruction in a courteous and professional manner; ability to use current office productivity software; ability to work collaboratively with library staff from other MGA campuses where consultation, flexibility, creativity, and cooperation are essential; and excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.

SALARY: Pay Grade 19
