Position Title:  Assistant Professor of Physics

The Department of Physical Sciences invites applications for a tenure track position in Physics at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2018.  The successful candidate will provide 27-32 hours of instruction per academic year, contribute to the development and review of related undergraduate curricula, and maintain office hours for student advisement.  Expectations also include service to the college at the department, discipline, campus and college-wide levels.  Perimeter College encourages and supports innovation and professional growth, expecting the successful candidate to demonstrate career goals that are consistent with the college’s mission.  This is a full-time, tenure track position.


Education:  Master’s degree in Physics (completed by the date of appointment) is required.  A doctoral degree in Physics is preferred.

Required Qualifications:

Ability to teach a variety of physics courses, including laboratories at the collegiate level.  Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to students and facilitate student learning.  Effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology.

Experience:  Prior physics teaching experience at the collegiate level, including online teaching is desired

Pre-Employment Requirements:  Criminal History Check is required

Work Hours:  Position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, on-line, hybrid, weekend and/or other campus locations)

Salary:  10 month salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.  As the two-year unit of Georgia State University, Perimeter College salaries are comparable to other associate degree granting institutions.

Anticipated Start Date:  August 2018
