Working Title Reference Librarian, - P/T (Evening/ Night) Title III ( 2 Positions)
Job Summary

Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Reference Librarian (Part Time). These positions will provide first level research assistance to students. Develops library instruction initiatives and assessment tools for activities at the satellite/kiosk library location; provides outreach to faculty and academic departments to support the instruction program. Assists students with directional, computer, copying, scanning, and word processing; records and inputs daily usage statistics. Schedules one-on-one Research Consultations between students and liaison librarians; helps plan and participates in special library outreach programs, workshops and library instruction. Supervises document delivery services of research resources for students; attends departmental and library meetings and training sessions as required. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; competitive benefits program.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree (ALA accredited) in Library Science or Library and Information Science. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; one to three years of experience in reference and/or instruction in an academic library setting. Ability to work cooperatively and pay attention to detail; demonstrated research and computer skills (experience with general application software such as Word, Access, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint. Must have a proactive and friendly customer service attitude (pleasant, approachable, patient); dependability essential. Background and/or credit check may be required.
