Position Title:  Assistant Professor Tenure-Track (Art)

JOB SUMMARY/BASIC FUNCTION:

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible to:

  • Provide 27-32 semester hours of instruction per academic year in undergraduate studio art and lecture courses including Drawing, 2D Foundations and/or 3D Foundations, survey of art history, art appreciation
  • Maintain required office hours and provide academic advising for students
  • Work effectively and professionally with colleagues on departmental, college and university committees
  • Engage in scholarship/creative activities, provide service to the Department, University and community and communicate clearly with a diverse campus community
  • Attend local recruitment events and focus efforts on increasing major enrollment
  • Assist in planning, organizing, promoting and managing of small exhibitions and other activities in the Clarkton campus art gallery area
  • Approach work with flexibility
  • Ability to recruit students is essential
  • Provide related curriculum and student support and advising

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Applicants must possess a MFA in Studio Art

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Required Qualifications:  Evidence of teaching effectiveness and artistic research is required

Experience:  Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level required.  Professional experience preferred.

Pre-Employment Requirements:  Criminal History Check is required

Work Hours:  Position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, on-line, hybrid, weekend and/or other campus locations)

Salary:  10 month salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.  As the two-year unit of Georgia State University, Perimeter College salaries are comparable to other associate degree granting institutions.
