Position Title Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs
Position Responsibilities

Reporting to the President, the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs is the Chief Academic Officer of the University and provides leadership to all academic areas to reflect the mission of the institution. The Provost/VPAA is an advocate for all academic programs, providing leadership to faculty and academic staff to ensure consistent quality standards in curriculum and programs to meet the needs of students. The Provost oversees the academic integrity of the University and provides leadership in long-range planning, budgeting, curriculum, and program development. The Provost/VPAA ensures compliance with various accreditation agencies as well as state accreditation and regulation.

In following the duties and responsibilities of the office,, the Provost/VPAA will:

• Serve as the Chief Academic Officer for all academic areas and academic functions of the University, including faculty, academic programs and academic support offices, activities of the undergraduate and graduate programs, schools, and the library.
• Provide leadership and direction to the Office of Academic Affairs for development and recommendation for policies, planning guidance, and procedures for strategic planning and institutional effectiveness.
• Provide leadership and direction to the Office of Academic Affairs for student outcomes assessment, program review, and university and programmatic accreditation processes.
• Provide leadership and direction for the development and recommendations of a budget for the Office of Academic Affairs both for internal and external funding while maintaining the budget within defined management standards.
• Effectively represent multi-disciplinary departments to educational, business, and non-profit constituencies.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with all schools and programs in the University and manage an environment to encourage the academic development of its students and their engagement as citizens.
• Integrate academic and co-curricular offerings within a cohesive educational program.
• Develop service-oriented administration that guides and directs faculty and students with their academic regimen.
• Enhance the viability of faculty through professional development opportunities.
• Create the strategic plan for the Office of Academic Affairs; oversee and guide the creation and implementation of annual goals and outcomes for the Academic Affairs leadership team; provide leadership and direction in achieving priority institutional objectives for the Office of Academic Affairs; evaluate progress toward goals and objectives.
• Support enrollment management initiatives and innovations in programs and methods of delivery that respond in a timely manner to a rapidly changing environment.
• Provide leadership and support to the deans to meet/exceed enrollment targets, retention rates, and graduation rates for all academic units, and to ensure mission driven academic and co-curricular objectives are achieved.
• Coordinate out-of-classroom learning, learning environments, distance learning, and support services for students to create a dynamic living-learning experience that emphasizes critical thinking and mission-focused leadership skills development.
• Coordinate all activities aimed at student success and retention for a diverse student population, including online, traditional on-campus, commuters, and international students.

Minimum Requirements

• Earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
• Qualifications for appointment as a tenured full professor in an academic department at the University.
• Experience in faculty recruitment, development, retention, promotion, and tenure decisions. 
• Commitment to and knowledge of distance learning, alternative scheduling, and planning to meet undergraduate, graduate and distance learning students’ needs.
• Demonstrated ability to foster student success including but not limited to retention, progression, and graduation.
• Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, entrepreneurship, experiential learning, and engaged community scholarship.
• Demonstrated ability to work with new and innovative programs.
• Demonstrated leadership and a strong record of successful academic administrative experience in progressively responsible positions, which include budgeting, policy, and academic program development.
• Demonstrated commitment to shared governance and strong working relationships with faculty.
• Experience in fostering collaboration between academic programs to create interdisciplinary educational experiences for students.
• Knowledge of enrollment management, facility planning, and research (such as grant writing). 
• Knowledge of accreditation standards set forth by one or more of the regional and national accreditation agencies.
