Job Summary

The Office of Academic Affairs, College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), at the University of Georgia invites applications for an Assessment and Accreditation Coordinator. This position will provide support for assessment of the veterinary curriculum with an emphasis on student learning outcomes and evidence-based curricular improvements. The successful candidate will also provide support and training to faculty and engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

• Assists the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Curriculum Directors in the development, design, administration, and analysis of assessment instruments and processes to inform faculty and college leadership on outcomes at the course, program and institutional level.

o Gathers and documents evidence of student learning as measured by means such as course and comprehensive examinations, national board exam (NAVLE) scores, and clinical rotation rating scales.

o Oversees administration and analysis of indirect measures of curricular and student outcomes including student and employer surveys and course evaluations.

o Prepares a variety of documents, reports, graphs, charts, etc. that clearly communicate the results of analysis of outcomes assessment data to college administrators, faculty, staff, and students.

o Compiles institutional reports for outcomes assessment, accreditation reporting requirements, program performance benchmarking and other reports required by the College.

o Collaborates with other personnel within the College’s Office of Academic Affairs to develop and maintain an accurate and usable curricular assessment database and curricular map.

o Responsible for facilitation of regular reviews and revisions of the College’s Outcomes Assessment Plan.

• Assists college faculty and administration in evidence-based curricular improvements based on current literature, assessments and identified outcomes.

• Engages in educational research independently and/or in collaboration with others.

• Conducts activities such as submission of grants to federal agencies or private foundations, publication of refereed papers within the areas of academic assessment or related areas, presentation of refereed papers on academic assessment or other areas of educational research at national or international meetings.

• Develops and organizes training sessions and other campus events related to outcomes assessment, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and the effective utilization of various technology systems and instructional methods.

• Effectively communicates verbally and in writing to a wide variety of constituents including faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

1. PhD degree in a relevant field, such as educational assessment, curriculum, instructional design, information technology, sociology, psychology, or statistics.

2. One year of work experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Knowledge of outcomes assessment or instructional design in an educational institution that trains health professionals, such as veterinarians, pharmacists, or physicians.

2. Working knowledge of instructional and curricular design principles and pedagogy.

3. Demonstrated ability to gather, organize, collate, and/or classify information and data in a manner that ensures ease of access.

4. Three years related work experience including experience scheduling activities and meetings and in planning and managing projects AND experience with technology including computer software such as Microsoft Suite, statistical software, curriculum management and/or student information systems.
