Assistant Professor in Digital Persuasion

The Department of Communication at Georgia State University, College of Arts & Sciences, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Digital Persuasion to begin Fall 2018, pending budgetary approval. Candidates should demonstrate a capacity for scholarly research and publication, as well as an established record of excellence in teaching courses related to multimodal literacies and compositional strategies, comparative approaches to offline and online persuasion, international propaganda, analysis of social media users and their networked communication content, and technological constraints and opportunities for source, message, and audience adaptation within digital persuasion environments. Qualitative and quantitative approaches are welcome. We are particularly interested in scholars who have strong backgrounds in rhetorical or media approaches to persuasion but who are innovative methodologically or theoretically. The ability to connect one’s research to the department’s Center for Global Information Studies, its trans-cultural violence initiative, or the college’s Creative Media Industries Institute is a plus.

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach in the Department's undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department of Communication at Georgia State University offers undergraduate degrees in journalism and speech, M.A. degrees with concentrations in mass communication and human communication, and doctoral degrees with a focus on either media & society or rhetoric & politics.
