Nature of Work: Application Services is a unit within the Division of Information Technology Services at Albany State University (ASU). Application Services provides design, implementation and production support services for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems: Ellucian (formerly SunGard) Banner (SIS), PeopleSoft Financials/Self-Service, ADP (HRMS) and supports the mission of the University by developing, coordinating, and managing application software systems that provide critical information services for university constituents. 

Provide mid level technical/functional production support for Banner SIS, PeopleSoft 
Financials, Argos Reporting, and other Applications/Systems. This also involves troubleshooting and solving production issues, aiding the functional staff in utilizing the systems more efficiently & providing technical support for upgrades, modifications or reporting needs from campus users. 

This individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. 

Anticipates new requirements based on changing ASU needs & new trends in technology. Coordinate requirements gathering, preparation of design documents, development, programming and implementation of enterprise applications.  

Training and Experience: Mid-Level position requiring industry level certifications or college diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or minimum 4 years equivalent/relevant work experience. 
Experience with core software applications, including Enterprise Resource Planning (e.g. Banner, DegreeWorks, PeopleSoft, ADP, etc.) and Decision Support Services highly preferred. 
Application programming & logic skills, including SQL programming in an Oracle environment. Familiarity with Higher Education environment is highly desirable. 
Good understanding of relational and multi-dimensional database structures and schemas and reporting architectures. 
Experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements; Project management experience; and good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives. 
Ability to analyze problems, identifies alternative solutions, determine project consequences of proposed actions. 
Knowledge of current protocols and standards related IT Security services. 
Ability to learn new technologies, systems/software & adapt to change on an ongoing basis. 
Ability to work on a team, set priorities, work under pressure, adapt to demanding situations, and maintain schedules. 
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. 
Strong customer-service orientation. 
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Provide first level support to enterprise applications: Banner SIS, BDMS, Argos, DegreeWorks and PeopleSoft 
Manage Tier-II level applications: Black Board Connect, BossCars, 25Live, StarRez, LiveText, PyraMed etc. 
Work on system integrations, and interfaces between Banner and third-party systems/applications throughout upgrades. 
Assist in the planning, design, development, of new applications and enhancements to existing applications. 
Meet with end users to define business requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve business systems issues. 
Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems. 
Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems. 
Assist in the deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications. 
Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts. 
Create systems models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to internal and external team 
Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems. 
Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems. 
Create queries to extract data from various systems and performs data analysis. 
Insure that the quality of all data on campus is reliable and available, yet remains confidential, effective and efficient while maintaining integrity for Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements and compliance. 
Must have the ability to think critically with the capability to identify problems, using flexibility and adaptability while showing initiative and resourcefulness to deal with change. 
Assist in the development and periodic review of Service level agreements.
