Job Summary/Basic Function:

JOB SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for collaborating with staff, students, and faculty to assist in the development, implementation, coordination, and administration of an energetic and rewarding living-learning community experience to best serve all residential students. The RLC organizes and facilitates program planning, staff development and marketing for the residence hall community.

MAJOR DUTIES

Coordinate and supervise evening programs (ex. 1 pm – 10 pm) for the residential student body; develop and oversee initiatives focused on increasing diversity and inclusion in the residence hall community

Develop, allocate and manage program area budgets; serve as an advisor to the Residence Hall Association

Develop learning outcomes for all programs and respective living learning communities in conjunction with partners in Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, etc

Serve as a live-on Resident Director in a residence hall of approximately 134 resident students; directly supervise 6 resident assistants

Serve as Conduct Conference Officer for first-level offenses in a residence hall community of approximately 990

Implement new trends and concepts for marketing/promoting in accordance with College policies

Coordinate and oversee Move-In Day/Week activities, weekend activities and events for the residence hall community; collaborate with staff members for execution.

Coordinate housing renewal programs and tours (plan events and programs in conjunction with Admissions-Campus Visit Day/New Student Orientation, schedule Open House events, etc.)

Serve as a Campus Security Authority for matters involving Title IX

Provide professional development training to residence life staff; assist in preparing and presenting departmental information for RA/RD meetings

Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate residence life staff; develop and manage the evaluation process of all resident assistants and residence hall monitors using professional development plans

Serve and participate in on-call duty rotation (weekdays and weekends); supervise summer session resident assistants

Revise/update departmental training publications and supervise/monitor social media information

Engage in professional development including participation and presentations at conferences (state, regional, and national).

Respond through personal contact with students, parents, faculty, administrators, and the campus community to resolve problems, answer questions and clarify policy.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

The work consists of varied management duties. Many tasks will be coordinated with the academic calendar year, but may have to be adjusted based on other prioritized events. Prioritization of event dates and location usage will be critical.

Minimum Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of residential life program management principles

Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures

Knowledge of college and departmental policies and procedures

Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs

Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices

Knowledge of social media trends and best practices

Knowledge of staff development practices and student development theories

Knowledge of budgetary procedures and state P-Card policies

Skill in oral and written communication, interpersonal relations with the public

Skill in prioritizing and organizing work, delegating responsibilities and tasks

Skill in decision making and problem solving

Baccalaureate Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in residence life programming, student development theory, and marketing/promotions is preferred.

Three years experience in this or a related field.
