Primary Function of Organizational Unit

Responsible for daily operations within the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and serves as the primary advisor for one or more governing councils (College Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, and National Pan-Hellenic Council) that oversees nineteen (19) fraternities and sororities, involving nearly 1,500 students.

Primary Purpose of Position

The Assistant Director (AD) of Campus Life for Fraternity and Sorority Life shares the responsibility for daily operations within the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and serves as the primary advisor for one or more governing councils (College Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, and National Pan-Hellenic Council) that oversees nineteen (19) fraternities and sororities, involving nearly 1,500 students. Additionally, other duties within the Department of Campus Life will be assigned.

The AD serves as advisor to all of the governing councils (College Panhellenic Council, Pan-Hellenic Council, and Interfraternity Council) and oversees all budget related matters. The Assistant Director communicates with individual Greek organization advisors on a regular basis. Assists in Greek judicial matters and risk management education. Oversees the expansion of the Greek system. Serves as a mediator for disputes among Greek members and organizations. Works with Greeks on philanthropic efforts and community service. Coordinates the Greek Standards Program. Organizes workshops and educational programs (e.g. convocations) for the Greek life community.

Works with respective governing councils to coordinate recruitment processes, including promotion, registration, execution, and follow-up. Works with governing councils to attract a diverse population.

Key Function Advising
Job duties performed for the above function

Represents Greek Life at on and off-campus events and related issues. Advises the Greek Presidents Council and other advisory groups. Serves on university and community related committees as appropriate.

Key Function Coordinating
Job duties performed for the above function

Coordinates all Greek Life publications (e.g. Greek View Book, and Greek Advisor’s Manual). Assists in maintaining the Greek Life web site. Produces semester grade reports for all new and existing members of Greek organizations.

Key Function Supervision
Job duties performed for the above function

Supervises graduate assistants who work with Greek councils and assist with related Greek life programs and processes (e.g. IFC recruitment and Greek community service programs).

Plans and implements special events (e.g. homecoming concert), and completes other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree
