Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Communication Sciences and Disorders

Georgia State University (GSU) seeks an outstanding scholar with expertise in Speech, Language or Hearing Sciences or Disorders to join the faculty of a dynamic and growing graduate program with a strong focus on research and teaching. The successful candidate will have an active program of research focused on normal or disordered speech, language, hearing or related processes in either child or adult populations. The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program at GSU is located within the Department of Educational Psychology, Special Education and Communication Disorders, which is housed in the College of Education and Human Development. GSU is an enterprising urban public research university, classified as RU/H (Research University/High Research Activity) with a diverse student body located in Downtown Atlanta.  

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include: (a) developing and conducting a line of research focused on speech, language or hearing sciences or disorders, and obtaining external funding to support research; (b) teaching and developing graduate courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, and mentoring graduate students; (c) providing service to the profession, and cultivating collaborative relationships locally and nationally to support and sustain interdisciplinary dialogue and dissemination of information; and (d) contributing to the life and development of the CSD program, the Department, the College and the University.

Qualifications: An earned research doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech and Hearing Sciences, or a related discipline; demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and development of an independent funded research program focused on aspects of speech, language or hearing in child or adult populations. Experience teaching undergraduate and or/graduate courses is preferred, but not required. Preference will be given to candidates with a history of external funding.
