Job Summary

The Department of Health Policy and Management (HPAM) seeks outstanding candidates to fill an assistant or associate professor tenure track position in health management. The successful candidate will be experienced in areas relating to health services research, health management and leadership and have demonstrated a record of scholarly achievements. It is expected that the new faculty member will build and maintain a productive, externally funded research program. Requirements include an earned academic or professional doctorate.

Important to the position is active involvement transmitting knowledge and educating the next generation of public health professionals. The new faculty member’s instruction responsibilities may include instruction at the graduate level in the MPH and DrPH programs and undergraduate instruction in a minor. HPAM supports a health policy and management concentration area within the College of Public Health MPH program and has responsibility for the DrPH program.The Department will be developing a series of online courses and interest and expertise in this arena is desired.

The College of Public Health is actively engaged in community outreach activities. HPAM is a strong supporter of this College mission and the successful candidate will support these activities.

Founded in 2005, the College of Public Health is a CEPH accredited institution and recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. Located on the University of Georgia’s Health Sciences Campus, the College‘s four departments and Institute for Disaster Management, Institute for Gerontology and Center for Global Health comprise a young, growing and vibrant environment for public health research and instruction. The Department is located in newly renovated facilities that house faculty, staff and students. The University of Georgia is located in Athens, a college town with a rich quality of life and a low cost of living (http://www.visitathensga.com/media/athens-in-the-news/rankings/).

The Department’s plans call for addressing public health challenges of the future and the new faculty member will have the opportunity to participate in the continuing development of the HPAM program.
