Job Purpose: Serving within the Research Faculty of The Institute, this position directly supports the extension, service, and economic development missions of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond.  Primarily this position serves as Program Manager for the Georgia Tech Contracting Education Academy (GT-CEA), a program under the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2) in Atlanta, GA.  Successful candidate will manage the operations of the GT-CEA which offers training in the field of acquisition and public sector contracting for government and business communities. The Academy provides continuing education training to government contracting officials and business professionals working within the government contracting arena. Functions managed include program marketing, instructor management, curriculum development, and accreditation.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and implement marketing plans aimed at communicating program offerings and benefits and identifying potential customers.
  • Oversee the development of course curricula.
  • Coordinate educational accreditation process and maintenance.
  • Recruit and oversee efforts of course instructors.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with counterparts in government agencies.
  • Identify trends and shifts in training needs and respond as appropriate.
  • Formulate and administer program budget including financial reporting.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related/relevant field (or equivalent combination of education and work experience).
  • Work Experience: Five to seven years job-related experience (or equivalent combination of education and work experience).
  • Skills: This job requires a working, professional knowledge of continuing education program development and management, especially as related to governmental contracting methods and processes.  This includes, but is not limited, to marketing, customer service and relationship building, course management, accreditation management, and program financials. Use of office related computer applications is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: MBA and/or Masters Degree in related/relevant field.
  • Preferred Skills/Work Experience: Eight or more years job-related work experience, especially in the area of higher education environment professional education programming.

Georgia Tech Extension Professionals are research personnel that fulfill the extension and service mission of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond.  This mission includes, but is not limited to, technology-based economic development, technology commercialization and deployment, entrepreneurship, start-up company incubation, and business/industry outreach.  Extension Professionals also provide educational programs for business and industry in support of these missions through facilitating and fostering increased industrial engagement and sponsorship of applied research activities at Georgia Tech.  Extension Professional appointments are based on the merit and special qualifications of the individual and follow the same general ranking, hiring, and promotion principles as other professional research faculty ranks.
