Working Title Resident Director (Multiple Facilities)
Job Summary

Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Resident Director. This position creates a safe living environment; ensures resident halls run smoothly on the campus of SSU. Assists in daily operations; selects, supervises, trains and evaluates Community Assistants. Implements residential living policies and procedures within University guidelines; appropriately confronts and handles discipline procedures for students. Coordinates and administers the overall Residence Life Program, both student development and operations components. Manages the implementation of community programs based on SSU’s unique mission, vision and values; coordinates hall openings and closings. Handles administrative matters, manages room check procedures and reports maintenance needs; conducts room checks and follows up on housekeeping, maintenance and mover requests. Oversees key distribution and collection, damage assessment, reporting and billing; coordinates and schedules education programs and activities in the residence halls. Maintains Community Assistant programming, staff development, and office supply budgets; monitors expenditures. Interacts daily with University Housing & Residence Life programs and other Residential facilities to ensure the health and welfare of hundreds of students. May be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and previous work experience (3-5 years) in a residential life/housing facility at a college or university. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities are required; must live in the residence hall 12 months per year; Master’s degree preferred. Background and/or credit check may be required.
