Job Summary

Savannah State University, a unit of the University System of Georgia, seeks a faculty member to teach Environmental Science courses, engage in research, advise students, mentor student research, and serve on campus committees. May be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned Ph.D in Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Successful applicants must have the experience and training to contribute to instruction in the existing Environmental Science curriculum. Applicants must also have the desire to effectively advise students in the bachelor’s degree program and provide service to the campus community. The specific discipline is flexible, but we encourage well-rounded candidates who can integrate their science into issues relevant to the region and provide training to prepare students for the work place and graduate school. Background and/or credit check may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

Scholars with experience in undergraduate teaching, the development and implementation of extramurally funded research, technical skills, and research mentoring are preferred. Special consideration will be given to candidates with research and instructional interests related to hydrology, energy, and experience with environmental law, policy or management. An eagerness to serve the Savannah community as an expert in your field is desired. Applications are encouraged from individuals who can collaborate with other faculty at Savannah State University in fields ranging from Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Marine Sciences, Biology, and Engineering, to areas such as Homeland Security, Public Administration and Urban Studies.
