Department of Family Medicine
Position Description
New Position?:
Job Class:
Assistant Professor
Job Description:

The Department of Family Medicine (DFM), through an educational initiative of the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Georgia Regents University (GRU), is seeking a faculty member, along with similar efforts in other basic science and clinical departments, to increase the size of the undergraduate and graduate educational faculty cohort.  This new FM position, along with others, will advance MCG’s undergraduate medical education (UME) mission not only in the DFM, but as part of interdisciplinary educational initiatives in response to recently increased college class size and regional campus developments.

The DFM seeks a creative and innovative clinical educator who will contribute to this unique team at MCG. This faculty member will also have an assignment in the college’s Education Innovation Institute to contribute to its curriculum development and assessment, educational research, and faculty development activities.  Along with these interdisciplinary activities, this position will provide major support to the DFM in conjunction with its Directors of Student and Resident Education.

The educational effort of this position will be similar to those afforded the department’s Director of Student Education.  Candidates will be reviewed by an interdisciplinary search committee.  This position will report directly to the DFM Chair.  Since this initiative is an attempt to increase the overall size of the educational faculty, external candidates are preferred.

To achieve excellence through a diverse workforce, MCG at GRU encourages applications/nominations from groups currently underrepresented in medicine and those providing services or having service experiences in medically underserved communities.
