The Department of Pathology at the Medical College of Georgia invites applications at the rank of Assistant Professor for an individual with strong diagnostic skills for a full time faculty tenure track position in the Section of Anatomic Pathology.    Applicants should have an MD-PhD degree or equivalent, and be board certified in AP or AP/CP with subspecialty experience in Cytogenetics and Molecular Pathology. Georgia license or eligibility for licensure to practice medicine in Georgia is required. 

Georgia Regents University embraces a tripartite mission of teaching, research/ scholarship, and patient care/service activities.  Applicants should have experience in diagnostic pathology and will also be expected to participate in general surgical pathology service.  Other subspecialty interests (such as breast pathology) or certifications are also desirable. Candidates must have a record of academic productivity with publications, research funding and defined career development in pathology translational research. Areas of research interest which intersect with institutional collaborative opportunities include immunotherapy in cancer and molecular oncology. Experience in administration and managing a translational molecular pathology laboratory is required. In addition, the candidate must have the ability to create relationships with commercial partners, and should exhibit excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with administration, trainees, clinicians, faculty in other disciplines, and technical staff. This individual will also be involved in resident and medical student teaching.

The Department of Pathology provides diagnostic clinical services to Health, a 438-bed adult hospital and the 127 bed Children’s Hospital of Georgia. Additionally, the department serves the GRU Cancer Center, facilitating the dynamic growth of innovative oncology programs. The Department promotes active engagement in research endeavors and scholarly activities, offering a strong supportive environment that is closely linked to successful centers in Molecular Immunology/Immunotherapy, Vascular Biology, and Biotechnology & Genomic Medicine. The Department has a longstanding well established relationship with the Charlie Norwood Veterans Administration Hospital.

Appointments will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and salary will be based upon level of qualification, experience, and scholarly accomplishments.  The institution offers a generous fringe benefit package.
