Assistant or Associate Professor in Condensed Matter Physics

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Georgia State University (GSU) is seeking to fill a tenure-track position in condensed matter physics by Fall 2018. The new position is at the assistant professor level, although a hire at the associate professor level is possible for a candidate with an outstanding track record of scientific research and funding.

The new hire will develop an externally-funded research program and will work closely with current faculty members on large collaborative research projects and proposals in departmental focus areas that include nano-optics and nanoplasmonics, ultrafast optics, materials growth, and device/detector development. Applicants should have the following basic qualifications: 1) Ph.D. in physics or closely related field, 2) postdoctoral research experience, 3) evidence of the ability to establish and maintain a successful research program, 4) evidence of the ability to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, 5) evidence of the ability to work in a large, collaborative effort.
